today is kuro’s gotcha day. i’ve had my boy for an entire year! it flew by.

kuro, if you could read this, i would want to tell you how much i love you. you are my best friend and i am so lucky to be your owner. you were a massive pain in the ass when you were 4-6 months old, you wouldn’t turn off and wouldn’t let me sleep. i’d be woken up to you falling on my face after you climbed the tapestry above my bed or you punching me in the mouth for no apparent reason. i love how kind and funny you are, especially how you find it fun to prank me. i also love how smart and curious you are, even though it’s been incredibly annoying at times. i find it fascinating that you have these hyperfixations for a month or two, like the bathtub, hiding in my dressers, cabinets, and now your absurd fascination with the door to the storage closet.

i know it might be annoying that i constantly check on you, and pace around the apartment several times before i leave - i just want to make sure you’re safe.
